Sideswipe is a martial arts-based group that blends traditional martial arts such as Karate and Tae Kwon Do, with gymnastics and acrobatics, to create an extreme, high-flying display of talent, strength and stamina unlike anything else. Sideswipe has been entertaining audiences across the country over the last five years, performing on television, stage, at sporting events, live action shows and karate tournaments.
Sideswipe came together because of one school, Sharkey's Karate School in Naperville, Illinois. Matt Mullins started training there first at the age of 13. Craig Henningsen began taking classes 8 months later. He was only 6 and always looked up to Matt. Matt began teaching and training Craig over the next 6 years. Matt met Jackson Spidell second at Sharkey's Karate summer camp. Matt was the head instructor of the camp and Jackson, 13 at the time, was a camper. A few years later, Chris Brewster came to the same Karate camp that Matt was teaching at. Chris continued to train at Sharkey's Karate with Master John Sharkey. Outside of performing the team are very good friends. Actually, they are more like a family. They have such a strong bond because they are together everyday, pushing each other to be the best they can be. |
